Have you tried backing up your bookmarks and checked the file size?įollowing on from my first response, I thought of suggesting you could keep different copies of sqlite and drop them into your profile as required, but could not recommend it as I didn't know how well that would work. I expect that is unlikely, but if your places file is that large, then it contains much more than links. However, if yours is 26GB, then simple scaling suggests some 2 millions bookmarks and a backup file of 500MB.

Looking inside it with a hex viewer shows it contains a lot more than simply the links - I have no idea why. Ignatzatsonic, how big your the bookmark file as it is used by the browser? Martin here: my backed up bookmarks file (~1800 bookmarks) is under 500 kB, but the places.sqlite file in my profile (C:\Users\mnger\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\fault) is 25MB.
